Out Turn Work (Labor output)

The term "Out Turn Work" or Labor Output refers to the quantity of work that can be accomplished by a worker or a team in a specific period (typically a day). It is used to estimate labor productivity in construction. Here is a general list of labor output for various types of construction work. The exact output can vary based on factors such as labor skill level, working conditions, material availability, and site constraints.

General Construction Works

Earthwork and Excavation

  • Manual Earthwork (Soft soil): 2.5 - 3.5 m³ per labor per day
  • Manual Earthwork (Hard soil): 1.5 - 2 m³ per labor per day
  • Manual Excavation (Rock, by chiseling): 0.5 - 1.0 m³ per labor per day

Concrete Work

  • Mixing and placing concrete (by hand): 1.5 - 2.5 m³ per labor per day
  • Mixing and placing concrete (by machine): 6 - 8 m³ per labor per day
  • Concrete Formwork (shuttering, vertical formwork): 2.5 - 4 m² per carpenter per day

Brickwork and Masonry

  • Brickwork (standard bricks, in 1:6 cement mortar): 1.25 - 1.5 m³ per mason per day
  • Brickwork (with scaffolding): 0.8 - 1.0 m³ per mason per day
  • Stone masonry (Random rubble in cement mortar): 1.2 - 1.4 m³ per mason per day

Plastering and Finishing

  • Plastering (12 mm thick, single coat): 10 - 12 m² per mason per day
  • Plastering (20 mm thick, two coats): 6 - 8 m² per mason per day
  • Whitewashing or painting: 80 - 100 m² per painter per day

Reinforcement Steel Work

  • Cutting and Bending Rebars: 1 to 1.2 tons per labor per day
  • Tying and Placing Reinforcement: 0.75 - 1 ton per labor per day

Flooring

  • Cement concrete flooring (25 mm thick, including finishing): 8 - 10 m² per mason per day
  • Tile fixing (ceramic tiles): 4 - 6 m² per mason per day
  • Marble or granite stone flooring: 3 - 4 m² per mason per day

Roofing and Waterproofing

  • Corrugated steel sheet roofing: 10 - 12 m² per labor per day
  • Water-proofing membrane installation: 20 - 25 m² per labor per day

Road and Pavement Works

  • Bituminous road construction (manual labor): 6 - 8 m² per labor per day
  • Laying concrete paver blocks: 20 - 25 m² per labor per day
  • Compaction of soil/earthwork (manual): 150 - 200 m² per labor per day

Structural Steel Work

  • Structural steel fabrication (manual cutting and welding): 120 - 150 kg per welder per day
  • Structural steel erection (manual): 2 - 3 tons per labor per day

Carpentry and Wood Work

  • Wooden door/window installation: 1 - 1.5 doors per carpenter per day
  • Wooden formwork (shuttering): 2.5 - 4 m² per carpenter per day

Plumbing and Pipe Laying

  • Laying GI or PVC pipes (25 mm to 50 mm diameter): 30 - 40 meters per labor per day
  • Installation of sanitary fittings: 1 - 2 fittings per plumber per day

Electrical Work

  • Conduit pipe laying: 30 - 50 meters per labor per day
  • Wiring and cabling: 60 - 80 meters per electrician per day
  • Installation of electrical fittings (switchboards, sockets, etc.): 5 - 10 points per electrician per day

These outputs are general estimates and can vary based on region, labor skill, working conditions, and the availability of tools or machinery.
